Global Peace Festival Soccer Tournament Kicks off

The Global Peace Festival soccer tournament officially kicked off yesterday at the KGVI Field with six teams in the men's golden oldies and four teams in the women's category.

The tournament will run for the whole of this week with presentation to take place at Lawson Tama on Saturday during the planned Global Peace Festival.

Speaking during the official opening of the Global Peace Festival soccer tournament Vice President of the Honiara Football Association Samson Faisi said that he is grateful for the support given by the Global Peace Festival.

The Vice Chairman of the organizing committee of the Global Peace Festival soccer tournament Dr Huddie Namo told Express Sports that they organized the game to coincide with the Global Peace Festival as they know it's the countries favourite sport.

At least 10 teams have joined the Golden Oldies category while 4 teams signed up in the Women's category. Many of the teams have stated that they are just there to have fun and winning would be just an added bonus.
