Fourth Suspect Arrested Over Police Assault Case

Police at Atori have arrested the fourth man believed to be part of a group that assaulted two Police officers at Borderline Police post early this year.

A Police raid at his home caught the suspect who is a 20 year-old man from Pethel village, East Fataleka, unaware early yesterday morning.

He has been on the run since 24 February 2009 after four men in masks entered the Borderline Police post on the rear and attacked a female and a male officer on the early part of February 23, 2009.

Police arrested three of the suspects some hours after the incident on February 23, except for the 20 year-old man who evaded Police arrest and escaped to his home village few days after he knew Police were catching up on him.

The suspect has been charged with Grievous bodily harm and Police is seeking further remand of the accused at the Malaita Magistrate court for further enquiries.
