Four People Arrested Over SBD$500,000 Fraud

Up to four people are now being questioned for cashing a government cheque worth SBD$500-thousand dollars at a bank in Honiara recently.

The Police Media Unit reported that the police have been investigating the allegation which led to the eventual arrest of a woman and three men during the weekend.

A motor vehicle alleged to be part of the proceeds of the crime has also been seized. No further details have been released as the police investigation continues.

Police anticipate they will speak to a number of people over the next few days. It is alleged that there are several individuals involved in the fraud, and the arrest could be just the tip of the ice berg.

The Finance Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo has made it clear that there will zero tolerance for such behaviour within the public service adding that those caught will face the full brunt of the law.
