The recent review of the RAMSI operations in the Solomon Islands will be looked at by the forum to find possible mechanisms to enhance co-operation between all involved.

The recent review of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands proposes a number of new mechanisms to enhance communications and coordination between all involved, Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Greg Urwin told the Forum Regional Security Committee Meeting currently underway in Nadi, Fiji.

Mr. Urwin said while the RAMSI review report is still being finalized, the recommendations include a new Troika working group in which the new Solomon Islands Government's Special Envoy to RAMSI, the new Forum Representative to Solomon Islands, and the RAMSI Special Coordinator are represented.

The RAMSI review was negotiated during the last meeting of Pacific Island leaders in Fiji, and was headed by former Fiji foreign minister Kaliopate Tavola and New Zealand diplomat Neil Waters.
