Forty three candidates will contest in the two constituency bye-elections on September 23.

As according to Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. John Babalu, twenty six candidates were nominated to contest the East Honiara constituency.

They are: Jack Donga, Collin Bentley Jr, Silas Chekana, Damien James Teobasi, Wilfred Belo Fa'ari, Peterson Boso Jr, Edward Jacob Ronia, Ellison Ryan Sade, Alfred Solomon Sasako, Simeon Bouro, David Dausabea, Ramon Quitales Jr, Moses Ramo, Timothy Omani, Joseph Baetolingia, Father John Ashley, Andrew Kuvu, Tagini Makario, George Manimu, Alfred Maetia, Yukio Sato, Delmah Lavina Nori, Kerry Wate, Milikada Miller Silas, Robert Gerea and Leslie Winston Kakai.

For the Lau/Mbaelelea constituency, there are 17 contestants nominated to contest the bye-elections.

They are: Ben Foukona, Judson Lee Leafasia, John Meke, Toata Molea, Charles Ferania Sale, Luke Tome, Paul Maenu'u, Kelesi Robu, Francis Obea Kairi, William Ramo Garaema, Walter Folotalu, Ronald Unga, Allan Billy Arofoa, Philip Maebolo Jionesi, Robert Mark, Eric George Onga, and Francis Makaa.

Chief Electoral Officer, John Babalu, revealed that a candidate may withdraw their nomination by 29th of August, however, their nomination fee is not refundable.
