Papua New Guinea's High Commissioner to Solomon Islands Aiwa Olmi says the accident early Saturday morning involving his Deputy High Commissioner and his wife would be looked at once a report comes to hand.

Mr Olmi says in such circumstances involving a diplomat, disciplinary actions would be taken and his office will look into the matter and take necessary steps in addressing it.

He says the couple are now recovering at their home.

Meanwhile the Foreign Affairs Office is waiting for police reports regarding the accidents.

Assistant Secretary for Foreign Affairs, John Wasi, says all diplomats are under "diplomatic immunity which means diplomats are not subjected to the jurisdiction of local courts and other authorities and therefore no charges will be laid."

However, he says the Ministry awaits reports from police as to the cause of the accident so that they can file a report to the PNG High Commissioners' office.
