Catching a fresh catch could be more exciting for some instead of buying fish from the local market stalls.

Whilst most Solomon Islanders in and around the town rely on getting fish supply from the main market, others who live along the coast prefer going for the catch themselves.

"Just like some people enjoy hobbies like collecting stamps, some of us enjoy fishing as a hobby," Nick Lilivaki from the Western Province said.

He said that fishing is the best way to wind down after a long and tiring day doing hard labour such as gardening.

For some, the patience of "sitting and waiting for the tug can beat the interest but the thrill of a catch is just hard to describe".

Another who enjoys fishing, Simon Page, said that it's a way of shortening the day and "a hobby where the pleasure of a good catch for the day is just awesome".
