Minister of Finance, Peter Boyers, accused sacked Finance Minister, Gordon Darcy Lilo, of failing to follow the right procedures in seeking cabinet approval for disbursement of funds towards the post-tsunami rehabilitation process.

Speaking in a press conference, Mr. Boyers said the Red Cross Assessment was not followed in the cabinet submission on October 11, according to the former Finance Minister's allocation of funding to constituencies.

Mr. Boyers said current finance adjustments will follow the Red Cross Assessment Report on some of the devastated areas.

He told the press conference that his job now is to ensure that funding to the country be made inline with the original Asian Development Bank intentions, which will involve more transparent process.

The Finance Minister said a submission will be put through to Cabinet in relation to government accountability of the funds, which will be audited.
