A threat seeking legal injunction to stop all Festival of Pacific Arts preparatory work is not in the interest of the nation.
The Festival of Pacific Arts National Organizing Committee (FOPANOC) made this assurance in response to a front-page article in the Solomon Star newspaper on Monday quoting an unnamed source threatening to seek legal injunction to stop all festival preparatory work.The unnamed source was blaming the FOPANOC for nepotism in awarding contract jobs to certain building construction firms after that person's bid was unsuccessful.
The FOPANOC statement said the nation and region is anticipating the festival in July this year.
"There is no time left to stop all preparatory work and there is no turning back," the statement said.
FOPANOC has encouraged the unfortunate person to continue with his or her legal threat and further encouraged that person to investigate all awards at his or her own will.
In view of the legal threat, FOPANOC wish to encourage the entire nation to give a lending hand in whatever way possible to assist the country host one of the biggest cultural events in the region.
FOPANOC further clarified that all expenditures and award of contracts are subjected to government audit and all reports will be made available to the public after the festival in July this year.
An expected 3000 participants from 27 countries are expected to converge into Honiara to share, celebrate and showcase the unique arts and cultures of the pacific from July 1-14 this year.
Meanwhile FOPANOC is more than confident that all preparatory work will be completed on time ahead of the festival opening ceremony.
