The father accused of beating his three-year-old son to death Christmas Day in North-East Malaita has been arrested.

Solomon Times was informed that the father from Sulaone village fled after his son died on the way to the clinic.

The accused, following his arrest last Monday, arrived in Honiara on Tuesday and was placed in police custody.

His lawyer, Brian Hiele, said his client will be held in a holding charge of murder.

Mr. Hiele said his client, currently remanded at the Rove grounds, will appear in court on 16th of this month.

"It is too soon to consult with my client because we are looking on evidence that police are providing," he said.

Meanwhile, the Malaita Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent David Diosi, congratulates the police in North Malaita for a job well done.
