A Chinese businessman in Honiara has denied that he failed to pay more than nine million dollars worth of tax to the government in Court last Friday.

James Yuag Zi Fang, owner of Fangs Company appeared in Court on Friday for a pre-trial conference in his case and pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
He is facing three counts of tax evasion when he allegedly failed to pay up for a period of three years.

It was alleged that in 2006, 2007 and 2008, Fang kept all his income to avoid paying tax.

According to the Solomon Star newspaper a trial date was then fixed on Friday for March 14 to 18 this year.

Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Emma Garo adjourned the case to February 7 for an interim mention.
