Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Maelanga has farewelled the outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands HE Dr Ajay M. Gondane today – acknowledging the Indian Government’s assistance to the country in recent years.

At a brief meeting between the two leaders, Mr Maelanga assured Dr Ajay of Solomon Islands continuous support towards India in its endeavors at the international arena.

He said the Solomon Islands Government will continue to strengthen its relations with India to explore and capitalize on opportunities that India has offered to Solomon Islands.

In response, High Commissioner Ajay thanked the government and people of Solomon Islands for their ongoing support towards India’s advocacy on issues affecting developing countries at international organizations such as the United Nations and the Commonwealth.

“You have been very supportive of India and our government really appreciates your support and cooperation,” Dr Ajay said.

During his term in Office, Dr Ajay has initiated a number development projects in fisheries, agriculture, education and constitutional development for Solomon Islands and he encouraged Solomon Islanders to capture these opportunities.

Dr Ajay also added that India is keen to share its development experience and technological revolution with Solomon Islands, particularly, in areas that India has succeeded in.

Dr Ajay who is based in Port Moresby is the High Commissioner accredited to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. He leaves Solomon Islands for Vanuatu on Tuesday.
