Devande from Solomon Islands has lost the Pacific Break 2009 title for not complying with certain rules.

Brendan Telfer, Executive Producer at Radio Australia, says they found out last week that the winning song, Everything, is written and recorded by the well-known Solomon Islands group, One-tox.

He says the name 'Devande' was in fact the name of the lead singer of One tox. The rules state that no entrants can be in an arrangement with a music publisher. Telfer says unfortunately One-tox is in such a relationship.

Radio Australia has again announced a new winner.

He is Emmanuel Mailau from Papua New Guinea for his thought-provoking song, Children.

Children is a song inspired by Emmanuel's observations of poverty in the settlement he resides in outside Port Moresby.

It originally caught the judging panel's attention, narrowly missing out on September the 1st this year, when Radio Australia announced the winner of Pacific Break 2009 as Devande with their song about unrequited love, Everything.

Radio Australia's Pacific Break - the search for the best original, unsigned musical talent of the Pacific - started in 2008 and is currently in its second year of operation.
