Delayed Action on Climate Change will increase Cost: Beck

The Pacific Small Island Developing States has met at a briefing with the UN Secretary General's Advisory Group on Climate Change Finance.

The Group, tasked with evaluating potential long-term sources of funding for adaptation and mitigation projects, said its recommendations will be out in October.

Solomon Islands Permanent Representative to the United Nations H.E Mr Collin Beck says "securing the funds to begin climate change adaptation and mitigation projects is a priority."

He says the window of turning things around is fast closing so at the moment for many of the Pacific countries, we on the frontline, the longer we don't take any action the more damaging the cost, financial cost goes higher.

Colin Beck says Pacific nations at the UN also feel that 100 billion US dollars per year is inadequate.
