Police are investigating the death of a 10 year old girl who was found dead on the 3rd of November 2008 at Ale village, West Russell Island.
The incident took place after the little girl who is part Tikopia and Russell was missing but was later found dead around the same day late in the afternoon at Ale village.It is alleged that the deceased girl was attacked and killed by a crocodile around the said area, which has been a breeding ground to the dangerous reptiles.
Crocodiles have multiplied in the rural areas of the Solomon Islands. RAMSI has often been called on to deal with the problem as they are the only ones with firearms. Many villagers have reported seeing crocodiles very close to their settlement areas, which is a concern.
