The Commissioner of Police has tasked Kukum Traffic to look out for unauthorised and after hours use of government vehicles.

In a press conference last week, Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Jahir Khan, expressed concern over the increase of reports of G-plated vehicles being used for private purposes after official hours.

Mr. Khan said government vehicles are state assets and using them inappropriately for one's personal benefit is misusing government property.

On three G-plated vehicles reportedly involved in motor vehicle accidents last weekend, Mr. Khan said this is not only a traffic matter but a national concern as government property and assets are not being cared for.

He said it is more concerning to see government vehicles parked at night club areas around Honiara.

Mr Khan warned that those found misusing or illegally keeping a government vehicle will be dealt with accordingly.
