Today marks the official launch of the much-anticipated National Trade and Cultural Show at the Panatina grounds in East Honiara.

A packed show ground had people not just from within town but from all the different provinces in the country and overseas visitors.

"This is so different and driving through town and seeing all the decorations goes to show the combined efforts to make this special year for the country memorable," Steve Ana told Solomon Times.

A visit to the show ground saw people of all ages and works of life visiting the stalls and meeting up with family and friends.

To complement the start of a week-long of celebrations, the weather was clear and a good day to appreciate one another as one people celebrating for a common purpose.

"This year's trade show is going to be 11 days of nothing but fun and enjoyment for the people of Solomon Islands," Mr. Ana said.
