Christopher Laore Wins Shortland Seat

Christopher Laore has been declared the new Member of Parliament for Shortlands by the Governor General, Sir Frank Kabui.

Christopher Laore, brother of the former MP, Late Steve Laore, won comfortably polling 1353 votes over his nearest rival, who is also a former MP, Augustine Taneko who managed 731.

Christopher Laore is a physiotherapist by profession, and was the Director of the Rehabilitation Services at the National Referral Hospital, a position he held until he resigned to contest the bye-elections.

Reports from Gizo said the counting went smoothly, and the elections were said to be well conducted.
