Media reports say that some 160 national census enumerators for the capital, Honiara have been sacked on allegations of bias during the selection process by Census recruiters.

The enumerators, who were only in their second day of a week long briefing session in Honiara, were told during morning tea break yesterday about their sacking.

A participant at one of the briefing venues claim the mass sacking was a result of unfair selection.

Census officials have learnt that names of people who turned up for the training workshops were different from names of people who were actually selected.

This was realized only as the training sessions begun.

A review of the recruitment process is now underway, and Census officials are expected to soon sort out the matter.
