The British High Commission Office in Honiara is providing funds to the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) to assist it to host the Pacific Islands News Association (PINA) conference

The funds go towards sponsoring the Economic reporting workshop. It will cover airfares, accommodation and per diem for up to five journalists as well as professional fees, airfares and accommodation for the facilitator of the three day workshop. The Secretary Mrs. Zoloveke on behalf of the president who was in overseas thank the British Government for the positive response and said that the conference provides a unique opportunity for senior pacific journalists to improve their skills in economic reporting.

MASI will be administering the funds and is expected to provide an audited report on the money. A monitoring and evaluation mechanism will be put in place to ensure assessments are conducted before and after the event to asses the value of the project. MASI is expected to work closely with news organization whose reporters are selected for the workshop.
