A new High Court Judge, Justice James Apaniai was welcomed by members of the Judiciary and guests yesterday morning.

Speaking at the official welcome ceremony, Chief Justice, Sir Albert Palmer congratulated His Lordship and says the Judiciary is privileged to have him join the bench.

Chief Justice Sir Albert says his joining the bench will "strengthen the work of the Courts in making justice accessible and it ensures efficient delivery of judicial services to the country."

Meanwhile in his response, Justice Apaniai says the appointment marks an important step in his professional career and he considers it an "honour to be appointed to the position."

Justice Apaniai from Malaita Province is the first Judge to be appointed from the Private Bar directly to the Bench.

He has thirty years of experience and has previously held Office in the Government as a lawyer and as an administrator at the National Provident Fund before setting up his own legal Practice.
