OUR Party has pledged to commit $50 million dollars for a nationwide relocation programme for victims of climate change if elected into power at this year's national general elections.

President, Manasseh Sogavare, said OUR Party is concerned about the effects of climate change on the country's low lying outer islands.

Mr Sogavare was speaking at the launch of the political party in the Temotu Provincial capital Lata last Wednesday.

Low lying islands in the country's eastern most province are being affected by rising sea level caused by climate change. Mr Sogavare said OUR Party believes that the country should take the lead in addressing the problem instead of waiting on donors.

He says OUR Party is committed to addressing a nationwide relocation programme which will cost $50 million dollars over a four year period starting in 2011 should it be elected to power at this year's national general elections.
