340 Candidates for 31 Constituencies

A total of 340 candidates have been confirmed to contest 31 constituencies, according to figures released by the Electoral Commission since the close of withdrawal of nomination by candidates.

The remaining 19 constituencies are yet to confirm their lists - which could possibly bring the total number of candidates to contest this year's national election to hit a record high.

The Electoral Office is still to get lists from the remaining constituencies -but so far Central Honiara has received the highest number of candidates to contest this election.

Central Honiara former MP Nelson Ne'e is contesting against 22 other candidates who including a women candidate, Delmah Nori, a former MP Moon Pin Kwan and other prominent names in Honiara.

The 19 constituencies which are yet to send in their lists of candidates include some constituencies in Malaita and Western and all the constituencies on Guadalcanal and Rennell-Bellona provinces.
