I am encouraged by the government statement saying it is aware of the power logging companies have had in the past in influencing the politics of the country. They are ensuring that similar incidents will not happen again this time. A invite all Solomon Islands and overseas friends to support the Government not to weaken by the threats of loggers.

What we should have now are "responsible investors" - investors that increase their social responsibilities through improving the well being of the people, stabilizing political economy and the society, and having greater concern for the environment. This is should be driven by the fact that investors too require clean environment and stability in the society. Loggers, however, thought they are above everybody. The Government must stand, and should further request the understanding of other investors, and bilateral and multilateral friends.
