SI University

Dear Editor,

Its good to hear Solomon Islanders now came to realise we must have own University. It is true the need to have one is long over due. I suggest few things here;

amend the section of the act that gives the title to Solomon Islands College of Higher Education to Solomon Islands University. Just change the name from Solomon Islands College of Higher Education to Solomon Islands University. Print the name and signpost it where SICHE is currently located. Secondly, review all SICHE current courses and upgrade it to university level. Thirdly, overhaul the current management structure, weed out ineffective areas, strenghten weak areas that is important, and direct finance to where it will have a direct impact to quality service output. This is possible. It is a surprise our leaders were not able to visualise such direction. It does not cost a lot of money to do it either.
