I thank Andy from Suva for bringing up the issue of IMF support for the Solomon Islands economy. This a matter of national importance during the economic crisis.
If the IMF can support Fiji, I see no reason why the same could be done for Solomon Islands - a financial member. If the government and CBSI needs to put their heads together for this, then they better do so urgently. At a time when the economy of the country's major trading partners has taken a pounding, such funding assistance from the IMF would be a welcome since it would ct as a cushion against the economic shocks coming its way.
