Australia, climate genocide & ICC

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Solomon Islands - like many other Island States and indeed major mega-delta nations such as Bangladesh and Thailand - is acutely threatened by man-made greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution, consequent global warming, sea level rises, elevated danger from hurricanes and the prospect of major sea inundation.

However you can defend yourselves by urging your Government to submit a formal complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over climate criminal nations involved in already commenced Climate Genocide.

According to the UN Genocide Convention, Genocide involves the "intent to destroy in whole or in part" and that is precisely what the major climate criminal, greenhouse gas (GHG) polluting countries such as the US, Australia and Canada are doing - and these are the countries who firmly opposed GHG reduction targets at the recent US-wrecked Bali Conference.

The US dominates the world and does not recognize the authority of the ICC. However Australia is much smaller and vulnerable to this legal mechanism. Further, Australia is the worst Developed World GHG polluter. - it has the highest "annual per capita fossil-fuel-derived carbon dioxide (CO2) pollution", specifically 43 tonnes per person per year in 2007 including that due to fossil fuel exports - about 10 times greater than the annual per capita fossil-fuel-derived CO2 pollution value (2004) for the World (4.2) and China (3.6), about 40 times greater than for India (1) and 160 times greater than for Bangladesh (0.25).

Global avoidable deaths total 16 million annually with 9.5 million being under-5 year old infants. This is increasingly impacted by global warming according to the UN and is predicted by UK climate expert Professor Lovelock FRS that over 6 billion will perish this century due to unaddressed global warming.

I understand that the International Criminal Court may be prepared to make initial investigations of formal complaints by individuals but will only act to the fullest extent of its authority in response to formal complaints by National Governments.

I have sent a detailed formal complaint to the ICC over on-going Australian complicity in Indigenous Genocide (90,000 excess Indigenous Australian deaths 1996-2007; 1.5-2 million Indigenous Occupied Iraqi excess deaths in 2003-2007; 3-6 million Indigenous Occupied Afghanistan excess deaths in 2001-2007) and Climate Genocide (complete loss of some Island Nations and over 6 billion deaths by the end of the century due to GHG pollution profligacy).

Please urge your Government to make a formal complaint against climate criminal Australia to the International Criminal Court - my carefully documented and argued formal complaint can be accessed here: http://climateemergency.blogspot.com/2008/02/formal-complaint-to-international.html .

Yours sincerely,
