The defensive comments of Dennis Ifura are nothing but an insult to Malaita, let alone Kwaio custom. As a fellow Malaitan, let the public know that we don't claim compsensation almost 100yrs after an incident! The last of tribal wars on Malaita happened just around 50yrs ago, yet victims don't go around re-opening old wounds just for the sake of money. Reconciliations happened without money/cash. The move by the Kwaio chiefs is an insult to their very own custom. One can even say that it's all for money - nothing more nor less!

On another note, check the British archives because some form of compensation or reconciliation did happened after the Bell incident. This was initiated by the Colonia Administration then based in Auki and after the hanging at Tulaghi.
