Ten Seats for Women in Parliament

Dear Editor,

I agree with other learned colleagues that have contributed in the discussion on this topic. Gender equity and quality leadership are two different issues that need examinination in their own right.

Solo has been betrayed by poor leadership over the last 30 years and I believe if we tackle this issue with our hearts, the issue of gender equity will fall in place.

I don't think that the quality of leadership of our nation will improve if we have 10 seats for women in parliament. We can be happy that women's voices are heard in the highest level in our country but it may not contribute to the quality of leadership that Solo is looking for.

I believe what is right now is Solo to have a regeneration of quality leaders whether or not this regeneration of quality leaders is birth by gender equity.

God Bless Solomon Islands
